ABOUT
Anmok Seongsu is a Korean pork gukbap restaurant in Seongsu, serving hearty bowls of pork soup with rice, along with mixed pork gukbap and other pork-based dishes. The restaurant is connected to the Anmok brand that originated in Busan, where the original restaurant has been listed in the MICHELIN Guide. The Seongsu location brings the brand's pork gukbap style into one of Seoul's busiest food and shopping neighborhoods. The main pork gukbap comes with a generous amount of pork in a rich but relatively clean-tasting broth. The mixed gukbap combines different cuts, including head meat and shank, giving the bowl more variety in texture. The restaurant is more polished and spacious than the image of a traditional neighborhood gukbap shop, making it relatively easy for visitors who are trying pork gukbap for the first time.
WHAT LOCALS SAY
One recurring point in reviews is the large amount of pork in the soup. Recent visitors describe the meat as having little of the strong pork smell that some people associate with pork gukbap. Although the broth looks quite rich, several reviews describe the actual flavor as cleaner and less heavy than expected. The Mixed Gukbap is particularly useful for visitors who want to experience different cuts in one bowl. It combines head meat and shank, giving the dish a mixture of softer and chewier textures. One recurring tip is to add the minced garlic served with the meal, which can noticeably increase the savory flavor of the broth. The Seongsu branch is also described as more polished than a typical old-style gukbap restaurant. Lunch can be busy, and recent reviews mention remote waiting, so visitors do not necessarily need to stand outside the restaurant while waiting. Its location also makes it convenient to combine a meal with a walk around Seongsu's cafés, shops and Seoul Forest area.

Pork gukbap is the easiest place to start. If this is your first time trying Korean pork gukbap, order the regular Pork Gukbap rather than starting with the more expensive cuts. If you want several types of pork in one bowl, choose the Mixed Gukbap. The restaurant also has a Solo Set if you want soup with a small portion of boiled pork. When your soup arrives, taste the broth before adding seasoning. You can then add minced garlic, salted shrimp or other seasonings according to your preference. Eat the pork and rice with the broth, and use kimchi or other side dishes between bites. The restaurant is close to Seongsu's main shopping and café areas, and parking/valet service is reported, but public transportation is still a practical option.
