01 LOCAL TABLEHongdae Mulgalbi Main
Hongdae Mulgalbi is a Korean-style beef hot pot built around short ribs and thinly sliced beef simmered in a spicy broth with vegetables. The restaurant describes its signature dish as a combination of beef short ribs, shabu-style beef neck, water parsley and bean sprouts cooked together in a special spicy broth. The result is somewhere between Korean barbecue, bulgogi and a hot pot: the meat and vegetables are cooked directly at the table and eaten with the broth. The signature starts at ₩16,000 per person and requires at least two servings. The restaurant also offers a Rose Mulgalbi version and a milder beef bulgogi cooked with vegetables in a bonito-based broth. Recent visitor content describes the signature mulgalbi as spicy, savory and fairly concentrated, making it particularly suitable as a shared meal with drinks. The restaurant is on Hongik-ro, close to the main Hongdae area, and is also used for lunch as well as dinner.
