GUIDE 02

How to Eat Bibimbap

Mix it before you eat it.

WHAT IS IT?

Bibimbap is designed to be mixed together, not eaten as separate ingredients.

HOW TO EAT IT

01

Add gochujang a little at a time, depending on your taste.

02

Use a spoon to mix the rice, vegetables, meat, egg, and sauce.

03

Keep mixing until the colors and flavors are evenly spread through the bowl.

04

Scoop up a little of everything together.

TABLE MOMENT

Take it one relaxed bite at a time.

LOCAL TIP

Start with less gochujang—you can always add more after your first bite.

TABLE TIP

Refill Your Side Dishes

Need more banchan? Just ask the staff. Most Korean restaurants are happy to refill common side dishes at no extra charge, and some have a self-service banchan bar. A few dishes made with more expensive ingredients may be limited or not refillable. Don’t be shy—asking for more banchan is completely normal in Korea.

Don’t worry if…

It may look messy while you mix. That is exactly the idea.
